What is included in the price?

The cost of the week long trail run or hike adventure includes:

  • accommodation

  • transfers to and from designated arrival city

  • support staff/local guides

  • baggage transfers from point to point (for trail runners) and most meals.

Generally, breakfast and lunches are included and some dinners depending on the location. Our base towns offer a variety of affordable food options.

All participants will be provided a full itinerary outlining the accommodation and meal provisions included.

Not included: travel fares from home country to destination, some meals, own travel/health insurance and any additional purchases of choice items e.g. snacks, souvenirs, gels

It is essential that you purchase your own travel insurance, bring your own gels, supplements, and the run backpack that suits you.

A larger capacity running vest (10-12L) is recommended.

What do I need to bring?

A suggested packing list will be provided. You can also contact us at any time, with any questions.

How much water do I have to carry?

Depending on the location it will vary but generally 1-1.5L will be sufficient. All participants will receive a packing list and detailed preparation information about your upcoming trail run or hike.

What do I need for the overnight stays?

Information will be provided for each trip about what is required, and the baggage transfer points (for trail runners only).

Usually, you will be required to bring a sleeping bag, liner and pillow case, towel and change of clothes.

Please minimise any valuables left behind or brought along on the trip.

What sort of running experience do I need?

Most days will be around 15 - 25 km (trail runners) and 10-15 km (trail walkers).

Trail runners note: being able to do regular training runs comfortably on consecutive days is important, these don’t need to be 15-20km. In the mountains the distance is often a mixture of walking and running, realistically you will most likely spend half your time walking due to the steepness and technical nature of the terrain. A 20 km day will take longer than you think. So time on your feet is important. as is walking up hills. Most people if they are running regularly will need to add a day or 2 a week of steep hills.

I would suggest a normal marathon style training plan with the long run replaced with a good 4-5hr trail run out in the hills somewhere; and replace any intervals with hill repeats or even steep hill walking repeats. Its not about being super fast, the aim is for everybody to be able to run at they’re own pace, but it is about being comfortable with the time and distance.

What is a Via Ferrata?

A via ferrata is a protected climbing route with a series of fixed metal rungs, cables, and ladders on a cliff or mountain face - using a harness and lanyards to safely clip into these fixed points along route.

It translates to “iron path” and is a popular and exciting experience enabling people of varying levels to safely traverse heights that would normally require technical rock climbing skills.

A local experienced alpine guide will accompany the group and provide the necessary safety equipment (helmet, harness). You can see a short reel here of the Via Ferrata completed in 2025 in the Brenta Dolomites.

On any designated Via Ferrata day (usually allocated as one of the 6 days), we will offer an alternative non Via Ferrata trail run or walk route to choose from. Both will be supported.

There may be some Via Ferrata elements as part of the normal trail - these will be marked, prepped and supported for.

Please ensure that you select or can confirm that you are covered for trail running , walking/hiking and any ‘Via Ferrata” activity in your personal travel insurance.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

All bookings require a deposit payment of $900 to secure your spot. This is non refundable upon cancellation.

If you have made full payment, then you can request a refund (not including the deposit) up to 30 days prior.

If you need to cancel less than 30 days prior to the trail adventure, or wish to transfer your booking to another date or person, please contact us directly to discuss.

What if I get injured?

Please ensure you have organised your own travel/medical insurance to cover your time in country and the trail activity.

Our support crew carry emergency beacons in case of any medical emergency (for ambulance /helicopter response) and are trained in medical first aid and alpine conditions.

We will also provide the local emergency services contact app to all participants. All participants are monitored on the trail run or hike.

We have local based support crew, who will be on hand to support any non emergency transport to the nearest medical clinic for assessment, and/or a return to the hotel.

Together with you, we will discuss next steps and what will be the best plan of action following any injury or medical emergency.

Please have a confidential chat with us prior to booking an adventure if you are concerned about any current or pre-existing health/physical concerns.

It is your responsibility to ensure you are medically and physically fit to undertake the trail adventure week and please speak with your GP prior, for any medical clearance or advice if you are unsure.

Will the accommodation be shared rooms?

Accommodation will be provided in twin share (hotel) or dormitory style (in mountain hut /farm style private accommodation ) unless otherwise requested.

Additional cost/charge for any requests to upgrade to single person room.

What about weather conditions?

The local support crew team will be monitoring weather and alpine conditions daily and will adjust and change route plans accordingly.

This may involve shorter trail routes, alternative route paths (including a transfer to a different location) if required, adjusted start/finish times within weather windows, and/or change of plans to an alternative activity or offerings.

The trail run or walk is expected to operate in usual alpine weather conditions and participants are advised to prepare for and carry appropriate gear for all weather conditions.

Any changes will be discussed together with the group and participants informed as part of daily briefings.
